Separation is a constant part of life that we often overlook in our daily departures. This work gives weight to that feeling by consciously splitting onyx that has been whole for millions of years. Held in tension by a brass rod, the two parts create conceptual enclosure to hold your keys—the objects of our transit. By encouraging pause to honor the moment, the work transforms the act of leaving from routine to ritual.
